Services
Productive members of the community
Residents are productive members of the Day Spring community and the larger Louisville Metro community. Everyone is involved in a meaningful day. Most residents work, volunteer and/or participate in a day program for at least twenty hours per week.
In addition, residents participate in varied activities outside the Day Spring community, including sports, square dancing, theater, church, recreational activities and many more.
All residents perform assigned household chores, including meal preparation, recycling, cleaning, laundry and pet care.
Realizing the dream
Currently, Day Spring supports 44 residents in four types of residential settings:
Group Homes
Our two Group Homes each support seven residents. Each resident has a private bedroom. Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) provide assistance 24/7.
The DSPs help to remove the barriers to residents' success by providing training and support as needed with basic living skills, meal preparation, transportation, medicine disbursement, as well as social, educational, professional and recreational pursuits, and shared household chores.
Apartments
Day Spring Baxter Avenue and Day Spring Woods support a total of twenty-five residents in apartment settings.
Staffed 24/7, Baxter Avenue includes one- and two-bedroom apartments with shared community space for meals and activities. Nineteen residents, of varying degrees of ability, make Baxter Avenue Apartments their home. Here they experience training and support involving all aspects of daily living.
Day Spring Woods supports six residents in one bedroom apartments. A community space is used for shared meals and recreation. Staff support is available on an average of ten hours per day.
Staffed Residence
Day Spring Home supports three residents who have private bedrooms and bathrooms. This residence is staffed 24/7 with Direct Support Professionals who provide training and support as needed with basic living skills, meal preparation, transportation, and medicine disbursement, as well as social, educational, professional, and recreational pursuits.
Off-Site Support
Day Spring provides off-site support through the Community Residential Services program. Persons receiving this service live in homes that are not owned by Day Spring. Services received through this program are individualized by participant request.
